There is a worldwide debate between free trade and fair trade. Free traders say, open up all the marketplaces and we’ll all be better off with more goods, more choices, and lower prices. Opponents say that kind of system only benefits rich countries at the expense of poor ones, increasing inequality between nations. They say we need to focus instead on making trade more “fair.” Who is right? That’s the subject we’ll be tackling with this episode's guests.
